Nadar Family Welfare Centre, a Non Governmental Organization, is working for the socio-economic upliftment of this community by organizing micro level family groups and has been successfully leading in social works, with multifarious activities.
As the part of the development of the small scale farmers of the community, Nadar Family Welfare Centre has initiated and supported a wing known as Farmers Development and Charitable Society. The Nadar Family Welfare Centre is governed by a nine member Executive committee, guided by a five member advisory board. Currently Sri. A. S. Ahimohanan is the president, Advocate J. G. Lawrence is the secretary and G. Rajaratnam is the treasurer. The executive committee has recently decided to constitute a hundred and one member State Council including eminent personalities from different walks of life. All kinds of help, co-operation and advises are expected from all well wishers.

Special importance is given for the production of handicraft articles from Palmyra leaves as a traditional job. The products are marketd through different exhibitions. We expect more orders for the palmyra products like office basket, flowerwase, hats, hand fan, flower tray etc.

br>Small Loan System is implemented in these family units with their own funds which is deposited weekly by the members.
The male members of these houses are daily waged laborers. They used to take heavy interest bearing loans from private money lenders. They are being exploited badly. This organization intends to implement a Micro Finance System for these male members. For this we are looking out to get financial assistance without interest or with a nominal interest.
Nadar community is widely spread over Neyyattinkara, Nedumangad and Thiruvananthapuram taluks of Trivandrum District. The first two taluks are in rural. The socio-cultural and financial status of Nadar families in this area is very poor. The children are not getting proper education especially the males. The parents push out the boys for daily wages to bring money to their houses.
Nadar Family Welfare Centre works intensively to change this picture. We identify the needy students and support them with all kinds of study materials, uniforms and even scholarships for their educational needs. This year, we distributed one Lakh rupees to the students from IXth Std to XIIth by State Minister Sri. C. Divakaran. For this also we expect help and co-operation from Nadar dignitaries.

Tribute to Charles Mead. The London Missionary who fought for social justice to the backward classes, is remembered by Nadar Family Welfare Centre every October 1st - his Birth Day. The women of the lower castes particularly Nadar women were not allowed to wear clothes above waiste and below the knee, in those days. Mead struggled against this evil in the street and at the court of law. He is the man who established the first Girls’ School, Industrial School, Printing Press etc in Travencore.

Image of Vaikunda Swamikal (actual name - Ayya Vaikundar) is not in existence. He won't allowed the portraiters to draw his figure, who approached him to prepare his image. He told them "I am against idol worship. If you draw my figure, in future I also will become an idol". The only two Prophets in the world who denied to draw their figure is; one the great Muhammed Nabi and the only other is Great Ayya Vaikundar. More than one crore of Ayya Vazhi believers have no photo of Ayya. But it is to be seriously discussed how a fake image of great Ayya Vaikundar appeared in Thiruvananthapram district. Any how, an ideological image of Ayya Vaikundar has been prepared earlier by Nadar FamilyWelfare Centre with consultation of very many Ayya devotees and it was released by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Kerala, Sri. Oomen Chandy and it is here for your kind attention.
Bharatha Ratnam K. Kamaraj is still considered as the King Maker of Indian politics during the post Nehruvian period. He was very dedicated and trustworthy far from the beginning of the independence and nationalist movement. He served the nation as the Chief Minister of Tamil nadu and as the President of Indian National Congress. As a genius and distinct personality from Nadar community, we used to celebrate his birthday (15 July) as a family get together of this organization.
It is notable that a biography on K. Kamaraj, the first one in Malayalam language, was published by Nadar Family Welfare Centre. Preface of this book is written by Sri. K. Sankaranarayanan. His Excellency the Governor of Nagaland and appreciation note by eminent communist scholar Sri. P. Govinda Pillai. This book was released in a function conducted at press club hall by Sri. G. K. Vasan, Hon’ble Central Minister by giving a copy to Sri. Panniyan Raveendran, Member of Parliament. The author of this book is Sri. A. S. Ahimohanan, President and Coordinator of this organization.
The website www.ayyavaikundar.org was inaugurated by Sri. K. Radhakrishnan, Hon'ble Speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly.
